9:00 am – 8:00 pm
You’re invited to be a part of Oil City’s annual Community Clean-Up Day! Local businesses, organizations, groups, and individuals are encouraged to help beautify the town at this fun and productive annual event. Priority areas for Oil City Clean-Up Day include but are not limited to the following areas:
- Downtown sidewalks, landscaped areas/bump-outs, and alleys
- Prominent intersections and gateways
- City-owned parking lots
- Public parks, green spaces and playgrounds
- Areas along waterways and railroad tracks
Registration
Please sign up for the event by April 10. You may choose your own work area or be assigned a clean-up area upon check-in. Registration forms are also available in the main lobby of Oil City Hall, at the Oil City Library, and by request at 814-677-3152 or oilcity.mainstreet@oilregion.org.
Three shifts are available during Clean-Up Day:
- 9:00-12:00
- 12:00-4:00
- 4:00-8:00
Volunteering for an entire shift is unnecessary – just let us know when to expect your group!
Check-in
Check-in will be at the Oil City Town Square, where Main Street volunteers will have a supply of trash bags, gloves, and safety vests as well as bottled water and light snacks.
- Participants are asked to bring their own brooms, rakes, or other hand tools as desired.
- Tasks include hand pick-up of litter, sweeping sidewalks, and raking of leaves and other debris.
- Participants are advised to follow safety precautions and place all bagged debris from their cleanup area in a designated location, and report back to the event check-in at the end of their shift.
- Adult supervision is required for all participants under the age of 18.
At the end of the day the Oil City Fire Department will wash down the downtown streets, and the next morning, the city’s Public Works Department will collect the bags of refuse gathered by event participants in the designated cleanup locations. Participating groups may adopt their designated area and keep it clean throughout the season if desired.
Oil City Community Clean-Up Day is organized by the Oil City Main Street Program’s Safe, Clean & Green Committee in conjunction with the City of Oil City, with additional support from PennDOT and Keep PA Beautiful. We hope you can join us this year!
